What is the location: Copper Mines
Where is it located: View is from Mountain View Corridor  West of Salt Lake Valley.
How is it located: In the mountains above Salt Lake Valley. Can be seen from high above the earth.
When is it located: In production since 1906. Currently operating.
Why is it located: Open pit mining operation contributing to the Utah economy. Produces many natural resources including copper, silver, gold. World trade.
So what: Largest open pit mine in the world. Kennecott and Rio Tinto have done an excellent job of both maintaining the safety of the facility and voluntary clean up of contaminated lands. Sustainable community planning currently underway on land holdings.

What is the location: Mount Timpanogos
Where is it located: Utah County. Part of Wasatch Range
How is it located: Situated on the western edge of Utah County and bordering Wasatch County. 11,752 ft elevation.
When: Ancient geologic age.
Why: 300 million years old. Glacial processes and plate movement.
So what: Folklore, size, location in proximity to population

• what is the location: Point of the Mountain (Gravel Pits)
• where it is located: Between Utah and Salt Lake County
• how is it located: Photo is of gully between I15 and SR 68 (Redwood Road)
• when is it located: The gravel pit operation continues to grow at the intersection of the two counties. 
• why is it located: Economic activity
• So what: This thoroughfare is a major traffic trouble spot between two growing counties and exponential population and business growth on either side of this spot is an indicator of the growth of Utah in general. 

• what is the location: Stop Light
• where it is located: Light at the Utah County side exit of the newest highway in Utah -- the Mountain View Corridor.
• how is it located: Along the far west side of the Salt Lake Valley a North-South corridor running (approximately 4700 west to 6000 west) from 5400 S to 160000 South. 2 Lanes in each direction.
• when is it located: Opened in fall 2011
• why is it located: An alternative route to I15 for west side residents and an additional link between Salt Lake and Utah County on the west side.
• So what: Includes bike trail, running trails, very few stop lights. Aids in planned growth management for the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. 

• what is the location: Welcome to Riverton Sign
• where it is located: Mountain View Corridor and 12600 S.
• how is it located: South side of the road. Large boulder.
• when is it located: Dedicated May 7 2012 after the Mountain View Corridor was opened.
• why is it located: Community pride, statement of location
• So what: I'm moving to Riverton after living in Utah County for 35 years. I'm getting to know my new community and its borders and surroundings :)
